The Present and Future of High Definition TV, You, and Audio Video Innovator’s |

Why are we changing from the old analog broadcast to digital?
| A. Simple, digital broadcast will allow for much more information to be delivered to the viewer. For one, your local broadcasting station will have the ability to deliver more than one channel if they want. KATC, for example, could broadcast on two different channels, such as 3.1 and 3.2. The most exciting benefit is that more information means a much higher picture resolution. Digital broadcast will allow for a larger number of pixels to be shown at one time. | |||
| B. The other factor for making the switch to a digital format does not generate as much talk. The government plans on taking control of the old analog space in the sky, which local broadcasters have used for decades. It is thought that the plan might be to resell to cell phone companies, but no one really knows. | |||

What is being mandated by the government? When is this to take effect?
| A. The mandate will force local affiliates to construct a new antenna to broadcast a digital signal. | |||
| B. The timeline put in place has changed a number of times over the past few years. The latest date, which now seems to be concrete, is February 2009. That is when the government tells the broadcasters around the country that they will assume control of the analog space in the sky. This will also mark the time that they will exclusively be broadcasting in the digital domain. | |||

Where is Lafayette at the present time when referring to this transition? What local channels are offering high definition? How can I get them?
| A. Surprisingly, even though the mandate is still a couple years away, Lafayette is already here. KATC (ABC), KLFY (CBS), KADN (FOX), KPLC (NBC), WBRZ (NBC), and LPB (PBS) all are presently broadcasting both, the old analog antenna and new digital antenna. | |||
|
|||
| C. One popular way to receive High Def today takes most people by surprise. The old style directional antenna and rotor has made a come back. Since most subdivisions have restrictions on ugly bulky antennas, we have begun installing a number of them in attics. | |||

None of this means anything if you can’t set it up. Audio Video Innovators has sales associates and in house installation crews that are there for you, before, during, and most importantly after the sale. |
